Spring Rides

It is anticipated that our first Thursday ride of the 2011 season will be April

7th.

Spring President’s Meeting

It’s going to be May 7th at the Ramada Inn in Newburgh. It would be great to have a good showing of NY XIV members. No physical work involved. Mark the date and let me know if you’re coming. You will be needed on Friday afternoon/evening when other members/guests arrive and on Saturday. Look for the flyer on our web site.

Chapter XIV By-Laws

Much of the time at the February Regular Meeting was taken with the reading of the proposed changes brought forth by the By-Laws Review Committee. No drastic changes, some to bring us in line with the International and some just to bring us up to date with fee schedules. A few sections of our chapter by-laws were proposed to be eliminated and we would abide by the International By-Laws covering the same sections. The proposed changes will be read at the next two meetings after which the members present will vote on the changes. Two thirds of the voting members present are required to approve the changes. They are then sent to the International for review and approval.

Meet & Greet

There is a suggestion by Carl that we hold a function of some type at the Walden VFW to afford the members who might not often see each other a chance to meet. The dinner would be FREE to the member and a guest. There would be a cash bar for alcohol. Carl has laid some groundwork with the VFW and the menu is open from pasta to chicken and beyond. The only thing is that we would have to give a commitment of a minimum number of people to the VFW. What is needed from the membership is your input.

Fundraiser ****UPDATE*****

The March 19th date is not available to me for the defensive driving class. IF YOU HAVE POSTED A FLYER WITH THAT DATE, PLEASE REMOVE AND DESTROY IT.

We will be holding a NYS DMV approved defensive driving course in New Windsor at Louie’s Auto Driving School. This is the six hour course that reduces your collision, liability and PIP portion of your auto insurance by 10% for three years. This will be our chapter fundraiser; you don’t have to sell anything. This is not

strictly for Blue Knights members and families. Any licensed driver in NYS can attend and receive the insurance discount. Students are required to attend the entire six hour session as required by the DMV. I will email everyone on the list a flyer with more information. You can print out the flyer and post it where you work or play. Again, this class is open to everyone, not just Blue Knight members and seating is limited to 30 students. There will now be a choice of class dates: March 26th or April 2nd.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

I know it’s far off but we have been requested to assist the LLS with their Light The Night Walk in Goshen on October 15th. It’s only a few hours in the evening on a Saturday and they really only requested three to four members. Just keep it in mind and call Paul Lang if you want more details or to possibly get your name on the list before all the spots are taken.

Treasurer

We have an update at the Treasurer’s position in the Chapter. Citing numerous personal commitments, Ron Fabrizio is in the process of transferring the necessary paperwork to Sal Marazita who will take the reins as Chapter Treasurer. Congratulations to both members and thanks to Ron for his efforts in the position. Ron remains on the Board as Immediate Past President and has a position as a Director as well.

Finally

St Patrick’s Day falls on the third Thursday in March. So our March meeting will be on MARCH 24th, 7:00 PM, Walden VFW.
