Blue Knights New York Chapter XIV
March 2013

Next Meeting: April 18th 1800 hrs (Pre Ride)

Meetings & Rides

We had fourteen (14) members and guests at the March meeting; a good showing. At the meeting, Ed Shafer was recognized for his continuous years of service with the Blue Knights and presented with a service pin and certificate. Ed is also one of the founding members of NY XIV. Thank you Ed!

Our Thursday evening rides will commence on April 18th, meet at 1730 hours, and ride at 1800 hours. Meet location will be behind the McDonald’s in Montgomery on route 208, just north of I84. Please note that during the riding season, monthly meetings are held on the third Thursday at 1800 hours, before the ride.

Rides

For those of you on the Internet, the updated TSC ride schedule is part of the March newsletter that I forwarded.

Members will be attending the Philip Cardillo Memorial Ride on April 14th we will probably be meeting that morning at the Monroe Diner at a time to be determined. An email with the time will be sent out. For those without Internet access, please call a board member the week before the ride for a meeting time.

We have been invited to a bike blessing in Warwick on April 20th at St Stephen’s Church at 1200 hours.

The NY XI bike blessing is on April 28th. We received the award for the best attended chapter at this event for the last two years in a row. Should we go for three? By this time, we will certainly have some holy bikes!

May 18th 0800 hours starting at the Beacon Elks, the Sgt. Kenny Rain Memorial Ride. Further details will be on the updated ride schedules.

The City of Newburgh Memorial Day Parade will be on Monday, May 27th. All riders are invited to meet at 0830 hours at Motorcyclepedia on Lake St.
Parade will proceed east on Broadway from West St. to Washington’s Headquarters on Liberty St. for a wreath laying ceremony.

As you can see on the ride schedule, the NY II Suicide Run has been added the weekend of August 10/11.

International Elections

It was discussed and decided at the March meeting that the Chapter would follow the TSC recommendations for candidates in the upcoming International elections:

President:  Frank Gennari
Vice Pres:  Russ Harper
Secretary:  Karen Borza
Treasurer:  Jim Borza

Ballots for the International election will be out the week of May 19th, probably by mail as things stand right now. As with any election, voter apathy is a killer. When you get the opportunity to vote, VOTE. Don’t just sit on the sidelines.
