Next Meeting: September 20th
Trivia and The Suicide Run
What two geographic locations have the ‘T’ in their name always capitalized? Give up? The answer is The Vatican and The Bronx. In both cases, the ‘T’ is capital because ‘The’ is part of the name. It is not simply known as ‘Bronx’. The other boroughs go by one (or two) names, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island. Not ‘The Brooklyn’ for example. It was thought by some that The Bronx was named for Jonas Bronck, a Swede who settled in what is now The Bronx so when the early settlers ventured north, they were going to visit The Bronck’s. In reality, the only thing named after old Jonas was a river, the Bronx river (notice the lower case ‘t’ because the river is not a place)
Sal Marazita, who comes from The Bronx and who once worked at Freedomland, took a group to the Suicide run on 8-12. A grand time was had by all! John Parrella brought a couple of visiting Blue Knights from upstate to the ride (I guess you could call them over-Knights) who had never seen the city before.

This Just In
A rival MC club has been seen around Orange County recently, mostly around where NY XX rides. These are their rockers:
Speaking of Another Chapter
NY XX has challenged us to a bowling competition. Do we have any decent bowlers in the chapter? Maybe we can use something like this for one of those alternate meetings we were throwing around as well as fostering Blue Knight brotherhood. I don’t know much about bowling, other than Wii Bowling. How
many people do we need for a team? After the riding season comes to an end might be a good time to consider this.
We also have to go back to the discussion on those alternate meetings at our next meeting to get more people involved over the winter months. Let someone on the Board know how you feel about anything brought up in this newsletter.
Light The Night
I have volunteered us to work at the Leukemia Lymphoma Society Light the Night walk in Goshen. This year’s date is October 20th. We can probably use six or seven members. We do security at the registration tables, escort the workers to the counting room and probably have a member at the counting room. The event starts around 1600 hrs and ends around 2100 hours. More info to follow.
Contact Info
We have been striving to keep you up to date with Chapter & TCS events through email and these newsletters. The TSC Secretary forwards a lot of stuff, minutes, recalls, flyers etc that I forward to you. You have to read the stuff for it to be of any use. Get the big picture, stay informed A few members without Internet access get hard copies of the newsletters. The Yahoo Group site is still up and running; that’s where the notices are generated for rides and meetings. I wish more of you with Internet would hook up with the Yahoo Group site. In the meantime, could Orlando Clavell and Michael Pearson please report to the Yahoo Group site and update your emails. You are both ‘Bouncing’ members.
Welcome!
Henceforth, he will forever from this day forward be known as Grandpa John. Member John Ryan was blessed by his daughter Brittany with a granddaughter born on 8/6/12 at 0443 hours in ORMC. Tessa Elizabeth Ryan came in at 6 lbs, 14 oz and 19” tall. The question is……by spring, where will Lady ride on the bike?
Welcome also to our newest member, Ira Lawrence. Ira is retired from the City of Yonkers, PD and has fulfilled the requirements for chapter membership. Congratulations and welcome aboard!
Ride Schedule
The ride schedule for September is on p. 4 of this newsletter after the Board Contact Info.
