Membership Cards

For those members that I haven't seen, enclosed in this newsletter is your 2012 Membership card. Take note that there is a 'Member Since' year at the top of the card. The International states that they pulled out all the past rosters to verify this information, taking in account any breaks in service. This new membership card is valid until April 30, 2013.

Remember that you can use your member information to access the 'Members Only' section of the Blue Knights International web site, www.blueknights.org  Just enter your member number under 'User name' and your last name in UPPER CASE under the 'password'

 

Also Included

A copy of the most recent TSC ride schedule for 2012. Many rides are on the schedule that we may want to participate as a chapter. Look it over and then lets talk it over.

Spring Meeting

A few members  mentioned that they would like to attend the Spring Presidents meeting on May 5th in Williamsport, Pa. They only problem right now is that they have a special with the host hotel for Friday night only. I have been in contact with PA XIV and they will try to get the hotel to have the same offer on Saturday night; they figured that most people would leave right after the meeting on Saturday but we would just be getting there. Just goes to show you that the  in event that Carl hosted

 

last year was just that, an event. This year the conference is just having a Presidents' meeting. Information will be put out as soon as I hear.

 

Spring Rides
Our Thursday evening rides are tentatively scheduled to start on    April 5th

 

Donation
At the last meeting, John Ryan mentioned the passing of Deputy Felix A. Duran on 2/11/12 at 32 years of age. Felix proudly served this country in the United States Army and was a member of the SOG in the Orange County Sheriff's Office. Felix had to deal with PTSD and with his passing, he leaves behind a daughter. The SOG/OCSO is looking for any donations to support his daughter.

He Just Wants The Attention......

So I'm reading this email from John Ryan and he's telling me about a fundraising concert that they're having this Saturday in Poughkeepsie for the slain Det Falcone.  John's words, “ I know most of my elder

 

nmembers ever heard of the headliner band Twisted Sister..........” Elder members?? Who could he possibly have been referring? And who doesn't know who Twisted Sister is? Everyone knows it's a group that got their start at Freedom Land in The Bronx. When I responded to John in a terse email defending our elder members (I had your back Sal), I mentioned that Dee Snider who is the 'face' of Twisted Sister is also connected with the Bikers for Babies ride that we did last year at Dutchess Stadium and further that he did not show up at the ride as promised. So many elder members were so disappointed.
Last year, in September, they had a ride in honor of Det Falcone. Most of us had committed to the COTA ride with NY XII on the same day. Since they moved the date of the COTA ride, maybe we'll be able to get to this worthwhile event.

 

 

Spring

March 10th is Daylight Savings Time, extra daylight and warm temperatures for riding. Not to early to start those pre season checks on the bike. Fluids, tire pressure. Registrations are due in April, don't procrastinate. When is your NYS Inspection due? Oil change? Tune up? Schedule an Honorary to polish the chrome? After this first 'snowstorm', there is a lot of loose stuff on the roads, be careful.
