Dues Are Due!

Ladies & gentlemen, your 2013 dues are due. At the October 18th General Membership meeting, the Board of Directors approved a dues increase of five dollars.

The 2013 dues will be $40.00. This amount will be accepted only until December 30th. Any dues collected after December 30th will be assessed a $10.00 late charge.

Don’t wait for the last minute to send your dues in. Send them in today in the enclosed self addressed envelope (just add a stamp).

Light the Night

Thanks to the following members who turned out for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Light the Night Walk on October 20th. Don Curfman, Sal Marazita, Orlando Clavell, Reuben Sanchez John Ryan and Ron Stringer. A good representation of the chapter and another job well done. BK International will be updated for our donated services.

Nominations

Nominations for Board positions will be accepted at the November 15th meeting. Nominations for President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and One Year Director are open.

Elections will take place at the December meeting; new Board members will be installed at the January 2013 meeting.

Christmas/Hankkah/Holiday Party

We had such a good time last year we are looking to do a repeat. Venues are being checked out for price and availability. Wherever we go, it will be a cash bar. Last year we had a few ‘no shows’ that the Chapter had to pay for so it was suggested that we charge couples $20 to offset costs. Next week is November already so things have to move fast. I would hope that we would have solid details before or at least at the next meeting. Contact any Board Member listed at the end of this newsletter if you are interested in participating so we can go in these places with some number in mind. Do it today!

Speaking of Meetings….

For those of you with GPS, out next meeting will be held at 345 Windsor Hwy, New Windsor, NY 12553. The name at the location is Louie’s Driving School and the building is directly north of the Coach Diner on route 32 (Windsor Hwy) in New Windsor. The owner of the business is a retired police officer who offered up his place, free of charge, to conduct our meetings and also provide storage.

Tri-State Conference

I attended the conference with Don Curfman. Don Parker from NY IV was elected TSC Secretary and will take over from Guy Cook in November. Guy will move to Vice Chairman of the TSC.

Thor Johnson from NY XXX as well as  Cal Ennals made a ‘from the heart’ presentation regarding the TSC appeal concerning the membership status of our own Carl Raymo. Russ Harper, the TSC Intl Rep continued the remarks that went on for a while. There was discussion of some agenda item being removed from International Board meetings that the President deemed ‘illegal’. The Intl Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary were present in the room. The entire TSC Board as well as the Intl  Board members was provided with a letter from Town Justice Terry Elia, Town of Lloyd who identified Carl Raymo as a Police Officer and whose VTL summonses still surface in the court. DJ Alvarez (Intl VP) stated that there is currently a three member panel appointed to pretty much investigate the investigators. This panel is chaired by Guy O’Connor from the SRC and has members from AZ VI and CA IV. They will conduct their investigation concerning the findings if the International investigation and report back to BK Intl and then the attorneys. They state that they should have the results by the end of the year.

Also at the meeting….
We were informed that Col Alan B. West is an International Honorary Blue Knight.

Frank Gennari from NY I announced his run for International President.

There are 20,112 members in the Blue Knights in 634 Chapters (International). There are 2,795 members in 23 Chapters in the TSC.

BK license plate survey will come out in January. All the more reason to pay your dues on time; you have to be a paid up member to keep the plates.

PA XXV, a brand new Chapter in PA made donations to the Scholarship Fund and PA COPS (if I remember correctly, it was $5,000 to PA COPS). A brand new chapter, very active and very involved. Must be nice.

NY XIV was presented an award for the 2010-2011 Tri State Conference, Best Single Day Event for the ‘Spring President’s Meeting.

Welcome

Our newest members, Ira Lawrence, Yonkers PD (Ret) and William Byrnes NYSDOC (Ret). Stay involved!
