2012 Dues

Your 2012 dues are due. Due to much of our correspondence being done by email, we have saved money on postage and therefore, the dues for 2012 will remain at $35.00. This amount will be accepted only until December 30th. Any dues collected after December 30th will be assessed a $10.00 late charge and will be $45.00.

Included with this newsletter is an information update card which should be returned with your dues. Included information is your phone numbers (home and cell), your correct email address and whether or not you presently own a motorcycle.

You should have received a phone call if we are unsure about your current employment status. According to International rules, when you retire from service, you are required to fill out a new application for ‘Status change’. Some members on our current roster are listed as ‘active’ but have since retired; this application does not change anything with you membership, it just keeps the Chapter in compliance.

Chapter XIV Shines!

At the recent Tri State Conference in Nanuet, NY, your Chapter received the award for Best Single Day event for 2010-11 for the Spring President’s Meeting back in May. Our Chapter and NY I were nominated for this prestigious award and our chapter was the overwhelming winner. This is certainly quite an honor and we have Carl Raymo to thank for his hard work and dedication to the Chapter and the Blue Knights.

Eat Drink and be Merry!

This is not a poll! We are having a Christmas/Hanukkah/Holiday party and get together on December 17th at the VFW in Walden, Members and one guest are invited, food is included in the cost which is NOTHING, FREE. There will be a cash bar. You must RSVP by December 1st, no walk-ins will be allowed. Call or email any of the board members at the end of this newsletter with the number attending

Events

We recently provided security for the Leukemia Lymphoma Light the Night Walk in Goshen. The event was a huge success. Thanks to members Sal Marazita, John Ryan, John Lord, Ron Stringer, Don Curfman and Paul Lang.

As a side note, John Ryan is recovering from a recent spill on his bike. Some road rash and an injured trigger finger are healing. Stuff happens, he looks good and our best wishes go out to him.

Insurance Policy

This is something that I previously sent out in an email:

Ref: AMERICAN INCOME LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY

BLUE KNIGHTS GROUP POLICY--ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT POLICY ($3,000.00 POLICY) FREE to All Members/Family Members

      and to All Office Employees

Passed by the Intl Board of Directors 19 July 2011

This policy is in effect immediately and covers ALL Blue Knight Members and Family Members of all Blue Knights (Worldwide) This means every country and every member.

Procedure of reported death:

1. Chapter officer (Preferably the President) contact Intl Office Executive director Bessie Small of the Death of the member/family member

Page 3

2. Chapter officer to let family know that a death certificate needs to be sent to the Intl Office

3. The office staff will notify the Insurance company and also get the death certificate to the Insurance co.

4. Insurance company after proof of death is recorded will disperse a $3000.00 check to the Intl Office

5. After receiving the check from the Insurance company, the office will notify the chapter officer of the check and the office will do as directed by the chapter officer/ mail check to family beneficiary / or to the chapter so the chapter can present it to the family. Your choice:

This is the preliminary set up and should work well for now

Note: Sometime in the next month or so ALL members will receive a mailing from the Insurance company about the insurance benefit. Their will be a card in the mailing for all to fill out if you wish. The card is very important to return but is your choice of course.

The card:. If you mail the card back to the Ins co. your listed beneficiary will get the check upon a death

If you Do Not mail the card back, a check will be issued to the estate of the deceased.

So effective 7/19/11, you and all family members have a $3000.00 accidental death and dismemberment policy at no cost to you. According to Bob Flanagan, the International President, ‘family’ members include spouse and children but not step-children. Beneficiary cards will be sent around November 1st. If you choose not to fill out the beneficiary card, any payment would be made to your estate.

If you have BK license plates it is important to return your dues on time or risk losing your plates.

Condolences

Although belated, our condolences go out to member Rody Rosaly and his family on the loss of his brother, Angel A. Fontanez in June. Angel was a Sheriff’s Deputy in Georgia. Again, extending deep and heartfelt sympathy to you and your family.

Donation

A substantial personal donation was recently made to the Chapel Hill Bible Church in Marlboro, NY in the name of Blue Knights XIV. Thank you again to Carl Raymo.

Other Events

We have been out and about in the Hudson Valley and beyond spreading the name of Chapter XIV. Among other things, we were represented at the Bikers for Babies ride on 10/2 (great food), assisting Chapter XXX with traffic control. We did the NY XII C.O.T.A. ride on 9/18 (great ride) and the Chapter was represented in Queens for a rededication of ‘Venditti Square’.

We hope to see more members out at these Blue Knight events in the next riding season.

Don’t forget the party on Dec 17th at 1800 hrs. RSVP by December 1st!!
